Quilting and Binding a Block or Whole Cloth

This workshop is designed teach quilting and binding techniques using a single quilt block or a piece of your favorite fabric (whole cloth). You'll then be able to transfer your skills to larger projects on your own. Quilt artist Sarah Evans will guide you through how to assemble your layers, use a walking foot to create clean and quick quilting lines, and how to make and apply french fold binding. 

See photos for samples of line quilting, quilt as you go finishing and binding. Of course, your blocks will be your own completely unique designs!

Please bring to class one pieced quilt block up to 13" square or a piece of your favorite quilt-weight fabric to turn into a whole cloth quilt. 

We carry a selection of pre-cut fat quarters available for purchase before class. We always offer 15% off any supplies purchased from the shop for our classes.

Skills Requirement: Comfortable operating a modern sewing machine including threading a needle and threading/winding/changing a bobbin.

Supplies Needed: 

  • One pre-made quilt block no bigger than 13" square OR
  • One 13" - 14" square piece of quilt appropriate fabric of your choice for the whole cloth option.


      We Will Provide:

      • Modern sewing machine and tools for use in class
      • Neutral thread for use in class. You are welcome to bring your own coordinating thread.

      Recommended Supplies: These items will be available for use in class and for purchase in the shop.

      Registration and Cancellation**: Please register in advance. Classes with less than 50% enrollment may be cancelled at the discretion of the instructor within 72 hours of the first class. In this case, a full refund will be given. Full refunds granted up to 2 weeks before first scheduled class. After that, and up to 72 hrs before a scheduled class, cancellations will result in credit toward another class on a stand-by basis. Cancellations within 72 hrs or less of a scheduled class are non-refundable/non-transferable unless the class sells out.
