Quilting Blocks Thursdays 7 - 9pm Oct. 14 - 28 (3 weeks)
Block Building for Advanced Beginners and Beyond
Dates: Thursday Evenings October 14 - 28 (3 Weeks)
Time: 7:00 - 9:00pm
Instructor: Sarah Evans
Explore the shapes and value in a block-driven class designed to help you understand and design your blocks with expert instruction from quilt artist Sarah Evans.
We'll use the gird used to create traditional and modern quilt blocks, find the
components of blocks and determine what techniques are needed to piece them. Techniques learned will vary depending upon the blocks chosen by the class to make.
Two or Three 1-yard cuts of high-contrast quilting weight fabric
Solids are the easiest to work with because patterns will not be distracting.
Examples: Black/White, Red/White, Light Grey and Dark Purple. Large prints and
directional fabrics (like stripes) are not recommended. (*For more diversity consider one color that will be in every block and two other colors that compliment each other.)
Basic tools and supplies will be supplied in class as will a few sheets of graph paper.
Sketchbook, pens, markers to take notes and sketch designs if desired
