Ribbed Scarf - Beginner Knitting Class
Dates: 3 Sundays, April 8th, 15th and 22nd
Time: 10:00am - Noon
Cost: $70 (Limit 6)
Teacher: Emily Montelione
Join knitting instructor Emily Montelione (see her bio in the “About Us” page) for a three-part class in knitting a ribbed scarf from start to finish. Beginning with casting on, over the course of three weeks, you’ll learn basic knit and purl stitches, how to utilize those stitches to create a rib pattern, and how to bind off and finish your project.
Skills Requirement: Just a desire to learn to knit!
- Long tail cast on
- Rib - 3x3
- Joining yarns
- Troubleshooting - dropped stitches, twisted stitches
- Binding off
- Weaving in ends
Supplies Needed: You will need to bring the following supplies to the first class session. (Students receive 15% off all class supplies purchased from Evanston Stitchworks.)
- Two 100-gram skeins aran-weight yarn
- Size 9 straight needles
- Yarn needle
- Crochet hook (recommended)
We Will Provide:
- Guidance including tips and techniques to make the project a success. Before you know it, you’ll have a scarf on the needles all year round.
Registration and Cancellation**: Please register in advance. Classes with less than 50% enrollment may be cancelled at the discretion of the instructor within 72 hours of the first class. In this case, a full refund will be given. Full refunds granted up to 2 weeks before first scheduled class. After that, and up to 72 hrs before a scheduled class, cancellations will result in credit toward another class on a stand-by basis. Cancellations within 72hrs or less of a scheduled class are non-refundable/non-transferrable unless the class sells out.
