Rushcutter Dress (Advanced Beginner Sewing Class)
Dates: Mondays January 6th - Feb. 10th (6 weeks)
Cost: $175

Instructor: Cindy Anderson

Is it time to learn a couple of new sewing skills – maybe putting in a zipper and bias binding seams – or try color blocking? The Rushcutter is a great pattern for exploring new horizons. The Rushcutter is an oversized, knee-length A-line dress for light to mid-weight fabrics. In this class, we will sew the long-sleeved version, which will become a go-to dress in your wardrobe. The first session is dedicated to fabric selection and pattern tracing; there will be examples of the dress in denim and a summer-weight fabric to help in your selections. The remaining sessions will guide you through construction and mastering some important new techniques. Cruise Instagram, see how many ways pattern and color can make the dress uniquely yours – it’s a fun dress to sew and to wear!

**We think of sewing as a lifestyle. This class requires access to a sewing machine between classes. Classes are designed to introduce and practice skills in the studio with plenty of time for demonstrations, questions, and time for you to work on your garment. Between classes, you will apply what you've learned and prep for the next class. When the class is completed, you will have a finished garment and you'll be ready to go home and do it again!

Skills Learned:

  • Reading a pattern
  • Tracing and cutting a pattern
  • Hem facing
  • Inserting a zipper
  • Seam finishing: French seams or bias bound seams
  • Best practices in the sewing room
